Bandhavgarh national park offers two kinds of tourism i.e. wildlife tourism and heritage tourism. Being a popular tiger reserve, it offers variety of mammmal and bird species. Bandhavgarh fort lies in Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh state in Central india. It has a great history. As per ancient deity, this fort is gifted by lord rama to his younger brother laxmana due to which it was called Bandhavgarh.Here "bandhav" means brother and "garh" means fort. It is a hill-top fort at a height of 811 meters in Vindhyachal hills and known by the name of "Moti Mahal".


Bandhavgarh National Park is spread at vindhya hills in Madhya Pradesh. Bandhavgarh National Park consists of a core area of 105 sq km and a buffer area of approximately 400 sq km of topography varies between steep ridges, undulating, forest and open meadows. Bandhavgarh National Park is known for the Royal Bengal Tigers. The density of the Tiger population at Bandhavgarh is the highest known in India.Bandhavgarh National Park was the former hunting preserve of the Maharaja of Rewa and at present is a famous natural hub for White Tigers.


Bandhavgarh is famous for their wildlife but as well as it has great feature of Mythology. The history of Fort is not clear but it mention in the epic that Lord Rama Was also stopped here between returning to Ayodhya. As the epic mention Rama was the founder of Bandhavgarh Fort. In terms of later history, Rewa Baghel rulers, ruled from Bandhavgarh till 1617 when Maharaja Vikramaditya Singh moved the capital from Bandhavgarh to Rewa. Here is many things to see as Bandhavadheesh Temple, Fort, Treasury, Moti Mahal, Statues of Vishnu, Machli Temple etc. Saint Kabir spend much time here to meditate. A Temple of Kabir and a Kabir chora were built there in his memory One of the enlightened saints of the 16th century was Kabir.


Jwalamukhi Temple is dedicated to Godess Jwalmukhi. This temple is situated on the bank of River 'Charan Ganga', which is 11km from Bandhavgarh. Bandhavgarh National Park is one of the popular national parks in India located in the Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh.


In Bandhavgarh Park, a 65 ft tall statue of Lord Vishnu dating back to 10th century AD can be sighted in the reclining position. This is the point from where Charanganga, a perennial tributary originates. Although it serves as the drinking spot for the animals but during the monsoon season it receives a lot of devotees who throng here to worship the Lord. Shesh Shaiya is the only spot in the national park where walking is allowed.
